It's important to remember with a piercing, that you have punctured your skin. So we must care for our new piercings thoroughly and give them ample time to heal before changing our jewellery.
WHAT CAN'T I DO WITH MY NEW PIERCING?
Swimming! Don’t swim for at least 6-8 weeks after getting a new piercing. Pools, baths, spas, and even the ocean, can contain chemicals that can upset your new piercing. When showering, make sure any soaps, shampoos, or products are used away from the piercing site or are flushed away with warm water.
Sleep… on it! You can sleep, but not directly on your piercing until it is completely healed! You’re piercing will continually get irritated if you sleep on it, so we recommend a travel pillow to help you with sleeping on your side.
Remove it! Don’t remove, replace or change your jewellery until your piercing is completely healed. Not only can your piercing close up, but you can risk infecting your piercing if you’re jewellery isn’t solid gold or sterilised.
Touch it! We know how hard it is to not touch pretty things, but trust us, the less you touch, turn, twist or play with your new piercing, the quicker it will heal and the less chance of infection you will have.
WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH MY NEW PIERCING?
Aside from staring at it all day?
Clean the piercing twice a day! In you’re aftercare package, we included a saline aftercare spray, direct the nozzle towards your piercing, and spray the front and back of your piercing morning and night. Don’t use anything alcohol or antiseptic based as this could do more harm than good.
Wear your piercing jewellery! Until your piercing has completely healed. If you take our your new piercing, even for an hour, the piercing will start to close up.
Wash out the area! If you’re washing your hair, or have soaps near your new piercing, rinse away any products with warm water, without touching your piercing.
